The match-up between the SLU Billikens and the Louisville Cardinals will be played at Robert Herman Stadium on Sept. 4, 2012. For the Billikens, it will be their second match this year facing a ranked opponent, after falling short to the Indiana University Hoosiers 2-1. The Bills will be looking to carry over a dominating 3-1 performance over the UMKC Kangaroos on Saturday night.
The Bills will be hosting the fourteenth-ranked Louisville Cardinal squad, who currently stand 1-1 on this premature 2012 campaign for the play-offs. The Cardinals will be coming off a stellar 3-1 victory over the Belmont University Bruins. A loss for the Cardinals could mean giving up their fourteenth-ranked spot, so look for the squad to come out with a great deal of energy and intensity.
PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR
David Graydon of the SLU Billikens has been in top form as of late, coming off his first goal as a Billiken against UMKC. The Bills elected to play with a 4-4-2 diamond formation in their game against UMKC, with Graydon at the top of the diamond. By assuming this position, Graydon was expected to be the facilitator for his two strikers, Alex Sweetin and Kingsley Bryce, as well as look to join the play and notch one of his own tallies. When asked about his thoughts on playing this crucial role, Graydon replied, “I love it. I love to have the ball on my foot.”
The Louisville Cardinals come into Tuesday night’s game against the Billikens with a freshman forward who had an immediate impact on their game against the Belmont Bruins. Marlon Hairston had two shots on goal, one of which resulted in a goal for the Cardinals.
