St. Louis City SC’s Entrance to the Lou

All you need to know about STL’s new MLS team

After a century’s worth of attempts at bringing professional soccer to the city of St. Louis, the city finally earned an MLS team—St. Louis City SC. In 2023, St. Louis City SC will begin their inaugural MLS season as the only majority female-led ownership group in the league, led by CEO Carolyn Kindle Betz. In addition to Betz, the soccer club will be joined by world-renowned sporting director, Lutz Pfannenstiel.

Prior to his arrival to America, Pfannenstiel served as the sporting director of German football club Fortuna Dusseldorf for two seasons. Along with the announcement of the club’s decision to hire Pfannenstiel last month, Kindle Betz said in a statement that, “Lutz brings an unrivaled level of international soccer expertise to our club that will not only help establish, but maintain a culture that brings championship-level soccer to the St. Louis region.” She further expressed her excitement, “We cannot wait for him to get started as we welcome him to one of the best sports cities in the country.”

Last month, the MLS expansion team revealed its official name, crest and colors. After combing over 6,000 fan submissions, executives landed on the name St. Louis City SC. Deemed as America’s First Soccer Capital, the city of St. Louis carries a rich soccer tradition which contributed to the team’s name.

The new MLS team can be identified by its team crest, which encompasses St. Louis’s biggest landmark—the Gateway Arch. The arch is connected to the iconic rivers that line the Midwestern region, the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Towards the bottom of its shield, SC is inscribed, which stands for Soccer Club and Soccer Capital. In addition to the crest, St. Louis City SC has four primary colors that will represent the team—“City Red,” “River Blue,” “Energy Yellow” and “Arch Steel Gray.”

For those looking to buy tickets, St. Louis City SC recently announced that fans can begin reserving their place in line to purchase season tickets by placing a season ticket deposit on the club website starting on Wednesday, Sept.16 at 10 a.m. With four categories of memberships to choose from, each fan has the opportunity to get a unique experience during the season.

The Supporter Section, which will be located in the Lower Level behind the North Goal, allows fans to stand, sing and cheer for the entire match. These sections will be general admission and will not have assigned seats.

Reserved Seating, which is located in the Lower and Upper Levels, will include an assigned seat for all MLS home matches for the team.

Premium Seating will include the VIP Pitch Club, Concourse Club, Loge Boxes and CITY View Terrace Boxes, giving fans the ultimate matchday experience with exclusive benefits.

Suites, including the VIP Pitch Suites and Executives, will provide an unparalleled match day experience as well. Suite ticket holders can enjoy VIP parking, access to an exclusive entrance and unrivaled sightlines. Those with questions about suite tickets are encouraged to email [email protected].

Fans who place a deposit on Sept. 16 will be limited to requesting eight season tickets, and each deposit will not guarantee the ability to purchase tickets as the club predicts the season will sell out. However, deposits will be prioritized in the order they were placed in, according to the team website. St. Louisans can look forward to watching their new MLS team play games in a 22,500-seat soccer-specific stadium located in downtown St. Louis starting 2023!
