Squad racks up ties, its fourth vs. Northwestern

No. 11 Saint Louis University and No. 3 Northwestern played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer on Tuesday, Sept. 30, putting the unbeaten Bills at 4-0-4 on the season. Head coach Dan Donigan said he was not disappointed with the result. "This tie means we still have zero losses," Donigan said.

Doubles teams go 11-1 at Bradley

After an outstanding performance at the Bradley Invitational, described by head coach Jonathan Zych as the team's "best showing ever," men's tennis hopes to continue its success in this weekend's Billiken Classic. Zych recruited five new players to the roster this year in hopes of improving the team.

Hendrie brothers are tearing up the courts

Move over Williams sisters, there's a new sibling force tearing up the courts. The Hendrie brothers, P.J. and Jake, hailing from New Braunfels, Texas, are having a great start to the season on the men's tennis team. P.J., a junior and the older of the two, began playing at age 12 through the guidance of his father.

Preseason polls place team at head of Atlantic 10

As Atlantic 10 Conference play gets underway, the volleyball team has one thing on its mind: a championship. And, for the second straight season, the Bills are picked to capture it. To sweeten the deal, the A-10 Tournament will be held at Chaifetz Arena this season.

At this point last year, the women's soccer team was sitting on a 5-3-1 record. Although its current record (5-2-3) is slightly better, junior forward Kelly Waeckerle said it doesn't tell the whole story. "Every season I play gets better and better," she said.

Rising university expectations mean harder training regimen

The cross country team is out to prove something this season. Both the men's and women's training regimens are more rigorous than past years, with the women's team averaging about 50 miles of running per week and the men's team averaging between 75-80 miles per week.

Walton works his way up the coaching ladder

Edon, Ohio, is not known for its volleyball prowess. Yet the town with a population of 898 has produced a man who is quickly climbing though the Division I coaching ranks. For Saint Louis University assistant volleyball coach Kyle Walton, opportunities to play volleyball as a boy were virtually nonexistent.

Talented freshman makes smooth transition

She may only be a freshman, and this may only be her first year of playing collegiate soccer, but many have described Andrea Barklage as a leader on the women's soccer team. Barklage said she is "still kind of nervous" when asked how she feels about being a freshman on a starting line-up of experienced upperclassmen.

After win, loss, squad posts 3-6 season record

The field hockey freshmen had a big weekend. Coming off a loss to Northwestern on Friday, Sept. 19, and a win against Robert Morris University on Saturday, Sept. 20, this past weekend, freshman goalie Alex LeBarge held off RMU scoring attempts with seven saves, while classmate Nicole Kent earned a starting position after her strong efforts in both games.

SLU diver eyes 2012 London Games

Freshman diver Erin Savas has had her sights on the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics since she was young. The freshman narrowly missed out on making the Beijing Games by four places in qualifying, but she is currently training for the 2012 Olympics in London.

Still unbeaten after six

It was 2003 when the Billikens last went seven games without a loss. Not to jinx anything, but the men's soccer team will have a chance to match that statistic on Saturday, when Saint Louis University takes on Missouri State University in its annual Homecoming match.
