Swimming nears halfway mark in season

Nearly halfway into the season, the Saint Louis University men's and women's swimming teams are gearing up for their next contest Saturday, Dec. 8, against Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. "We have not seen [SIU-Carbondale] yet this year, but I know a lot about them," men's and women's swimming coach Jim Halliburton said.

Kent State steam rolled through the Saint Louis University men's basketball team at home Wednesday, Nov. 28, defeating the Billikens 81-40. The Golden Flashes shot 72.7 percent in the first half in building a 20-point lead and eased to the victory. Kevin Lisch and Paul Eckerle led the Billikens (5-3) with eight points each.

Grazier prepares to take next step

"With the position that he plays, he is not the guy getting all the goals and assists, and he is not the last man of defense, so he does not really get the recognition that he deserves," Coach Dan Donigan said.

Women’s basketball gains quality quintet

Head women's basketball coach Shimmy Gray-Miller announced Nov. 14 that five high school players have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Billikens next year. Janisha Geralds has been a major component of Bolingbrook High School's success that includes the 2006 Illinois Class AA state title, a state runner-up finish last season and a 91-6 record the past three seasons.

Volleyball exits A-10 tournament unexpectedly in semi-finals

The volleyball team's quest to renew its title as Atlantic 10 champions ended Nov. 17, with a loss to Xavier in the semi-final match. The team won its first match of the conference tournament by sweeping George Washington University 3-0. Second-seeded Xavier (23-8) used the momentum from wins in games three and four to defeat the third-seeded Billikens (23-7) in the fifth game 15-7.

Second-half comeback not enough for Lady Billikens

A potential comeback was cut short Tuesday night as the Saint Louis University women's basketball team fell to University of Tennessee-Martin. The Bills (2-5) struggled during the first half and were unable to hold a late lead. The score was 71-68. "Although I was very disappointed in our first-half performance, it's encouraging to know we have the ability to overcome a big deficit on the road and put ourselves in the position to win," Coach Shimmy Gray-Miller said.
