Columnist laments year’s end

Matt Auxier May 3, 2007
After four years of reading my words in this space, would it shock anybody if I let it slip that I am a fan of all things Chicago? Probably not, thanks to Tom Delaney dropping that bombshell a few weeks ago. At least my lake isn't flammable. Two of the most fun experiences that writing for this paper has afforded me came when writing about Chicago rivals, but I contend that they have nothing to do with my personal bias.

Dan Hunninghake April 26, 2007
While this statement does not mean much to people who have not been watching the 2007 UEFA Champions League on ESPN the last couple days, it could stir up some controversy with avid soccer fans out there who do not share my enthusiasm for this team. For those people we can just agree to disagree.

Brewers are building a winner

John Warmuth April 26, 2007
Now, I don't want to shock you, but take a glance at the NL Central standings. Yeah, the Brewers lead the division by three games, and are the only ones above .500. Now, as weird as that must be to read as a Cubs or Cards fan, imagine what it must be like for me.

Billiken Tennis Roundup

Andrew Pollock April 26, 2007
The women's tennis team entered the Atlantic 10 Tournament with hopes of finishing the season on a high note. The Billikens entered play as the tournament's seventh seed, drawing a first-round match-up with tenth-seeded Dayton. Baseball bats around in the Bronx

Pat McShane April 26, 2007
The Saint Louis University baseball team had a busy week taking on Fordham in a three-game series in the Bronx, and Southern Illinois in a one-game, wooden-bat classic. In the first game versus Fordham, Billikens pitcher Ryan Bird broke two of the school's pitching records in career strikeouts and innings pitched, but this was not enough to ensure a win.

Spring has sprung, which means it's time for two things: baseball and predictions about baseball. AL East: Believe it or not, I'm picking the Yankees to win this division. Again. The Bronx Bombers boast by far the best line-up in baseball and will field all-stars at eight positions (sorry, Doug Mientkiewicz).
