Bronx Bombers to return to glory in ’07?

Tony Meale April 19, 2007
Spring has sprung, which means it's time for two things: baseball and predictions about baseball. AL East: Believe it or not, I'm picking the Yankees to win this division. Again. The Bronx Bombers boast by far the best line-up in baseball and will field all-stars at eight positions (sorry, Doug Mientkiewicz).

WOMEN'S TENNIS The Saint Louis University women's tennis team earned a seventh seed in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament. The team put together a 1-2 record against conference foes, finishing the season with a 12-13 record. Earlier this week, the Bills lost an opportunity to finish above .

Andrew Pollock April 19, 2007
Brad Soderberg's untimely firing has raised eyebrows and piqued the curiosity of a campus left in confusion after a Monday morning announcement detailing his dismissal. Questions rose immediately regarding the timing of the decision and who actually pulled the trigger on Soderberg this late in the game.

Matt Auxier March 22, 2007

The Billikens celebrated St. Patrick's Day by hosting the Redbirds of Illinois State. The series opened with a winner in the first game of the set, downing ISU by a margin of 5-1.

Tennis migrates south, teams find lukewarm results

Dan Hunninghake March 22, 2007
WOMEN'S TENNIS The women's tennis team split four matches in Lakeland, Fla., over the weekend, defeating New Jersey Institute of Technology and Embry Riddle, but falling to Florida Southern and Bethune Cookman. The Billikens jumped out of the gates against the Highlanders in their opening match.

Billikens fall short of lofty expectations

Tony Meale March 22, 2007
The Saint Louis University men's basketball team won't win the national championship this season (probably because they didn't make it to the tournament-either one, for that matter), they didn't win the A-10, and no banner will be hung from the Scottrade Center commemorating any facet of this season.

Bills shine under Florida sun

Pat McShane March 22, 2007
The past week has been a busy one for the Billiken softball team. First, they wrapped up the Rebel Spring games in Florida with consecutive wins over both Bucknell and Colgate on Friday, but lost a double header to nationally ranked Northwestern on Tuesday.

Club sports spotlight

Julia Scanlon March 22, 2007
The 16 top college club and intramural tennis teams from the Midwest Section competed at the Midwest Club Sectional Tennis Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa, in February. As it was SLU's first appearance in the tournament, the entire team was surprised to find themselves in the final round, battling to represent the Midwest for Nationals.

Bills stop Richmond, send seniors off in style

Tony Meale March 2, 2007
It could have been worse. The Billikens went 1-1 last week, collecting a moral victory (if you believe in such things) at Massachusetts on Saturday before sending its seniors out in style with a home win over Richmond on Wednesday night. The Billikens fell just short of claiming what would have been their most impressive win of the season, on the road against the A-10's top team.

Baseball drops three at Central Arkansas

Andrew Pollock March 2, 2007
After struggling in their season-opening series at Troy, the baseball teamed hoped to score their first win of the season in a weekend series at Central Arkansas. The Bills dropped all three games of the series, falling to 0-6 on the season, a far cry from what the team had hoped for, especially considering they are coming off a season that saw their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1966.

Blue Crew not living up to expectations

Pat McShane March 2, 2007
With the basketball season drawing to a close, I thought I would shed light on the only thing at SLU basketball games I don't like: the Blue Crew. At first, in my freshman na'vet?, I joined the Blue Crew. I thought that their claims of being rowdy, loud and intimidating fans were true.

Women’s basketball falls in season finale

Dan Hunninghake March 2, 2007
Although freshman Theresa Lisch led the women's basketball team with 25 points against LaSalle University, the Billikens lost the match 75-66 in overtime on Feb. 25. As this game against LaSalle completes the regular season, the Billikens will approach the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships with a 12-16 record overall and 4-10 in A-10 play.
