Billikens return home, cruise against UMC

The Saint Louis University women's basketball game against the University of Missouri Kansas City Dec. 6 proved to be a battle from 3-point range. Of the 32 attempts from long range by the Billikens, only seven found the back of the net, however. Regardless of its inability to execute, SLU defeated the Kangaroos of UMKC 72-59.

Men’s soccer falls short in A-10, receives at-large bid to NCAA’s

After two consecutive seasons without an NCAA Tournament appearance, the Saint Louis University men's soccer team has played itself back onto college soccer's biggest stage. The Billikens (13-4-2) posted several key victories in nonconference match-ups and nearly ran the table in Atlantic 10 Conference play with their only loss coming against the University of Rhode Island over the weekend.

Cross Country The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Atlantic 10 Championship in Pittsburgh, Pa., last weekend. The women's team finished eighth overall, while the men placed 12th. The women improved three spots from last year's A-10 performance.

Skyhawks soar past grounded Billikens

The University of Tennessee-Martin (11-21) blew out Saint Louis (17-14) 12-4 in baseball action on Tuesday afternoon. After jumping out to an early lead, the visiting Billikens surrendered 19 hits and committed three errors on the way to getting routed by the Skyhawks.

Billikens split two weekend doubleheaders

The Saint Louis University women's softball team managed to split a pair of doubleheaders over the weekend, as the team continued through the heart of its Atlantic 10 schedule. After splitting a mid-week doubleheader with Southeast Missouri State, the Billikens hit the road to do battle with Fordham and LaSalle.

Billikens take 10th in tourney

The Saint Louis University men's tennis team's had its season came to an end on Sunday. The 12th-seeded Billikens lost a 4-1 decision to ninth-seeded Duquesne at the Atlantic 10 Men's Conference Championships at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Penn. In its inaugural appearance in the A-10 Championships, the Billikens finished in 10th place, with a 2-2 record.

People love to feel like they are important and will use any venue possible to let people know they are important. The Reverend Jesse Jackson immediately comes to mind when I think of people who are, or should be, on this list. At least Al Gore had the decency to leave the public eye after losing a presidential bid, same with Michael Dukakis.

It didn't go over well last year when I panned the St. Louis Cardinals off-season efforts prior to the 2005 season (I still remember one of the letters I got; it was funny). I said that the Cards would not make it to 100 wins, and I admit that I was wrong.

Saint Louis University softball team was in action on Tuesday at the Billiken Sports Center for a double header against Southeast Missouri State. The two teams split a pair of games. The Billikens had been riding high after sweeping in-conference foe George Washington over the weekend.

Teams wind down their final seasons as varsity programs

With only a couple of tournaments left for the Saint Louis University golf team, both squads hit the links last weekend.The Billiken men's golf team took 11th place out of 11 teams at the Branson Creek Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday. The Billikens registered a team score of 948 for the tournament.
