Reported Campus Sexual Assault Involving Students
Around 1 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 24, two female Saint Louis University students and one woman not affiliated with SLU were reportedly sexually assaulted by student athletes.
Department of Public Safety learned of the incident at 2:40 a.m. after being informed by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. On Monday, Sept. 25, at 8:46 p.m., SLU DPS sent an email alerting the SLU community of the incident.
Dr. Pestello addressed the issue in an email to the SLU community Tuesday afternoon, saying, “SLU seeks to foster a safe and supportive atmosphere where students, faculty, clinicians, and staff can flourish in an inclusive environment that is free from harassment and harm.”
Dr. Pestello also stated in the email that, separate from a SLMPD investigation, an external team will be working with the University’s Title IX coordinator.
