Saint Louis University students looking for an out-of-this-country experience won’t have to look far this weekend.
The International Student Federation is presenting a banquet on Saturday, Jan. 20, in the St. Louis Room in the Busch Memorial Center.
The banquet and cultural show, entitled “From Many Nations, One Face,” features food and entertainment from many ethnic backgrounds. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased in Student Life or in the ISF office in the lower level of the BMC.
“I think our campus has few culturally diverse activities,” said Darryl Bradley, ISF president. “This is a chance for students to see some of the ethnicity in our community.”
ISF Senator to the Student Government Association Ehrime Oghre-Ikanone said, “A lot of students just like to stay in their comfort zones. This is a chance to expose them to cultural diversity.
“Besides that, it’s going to be a really fun time. We’re going to have good food and dancing,” Oghre-Ikanone added.
The banquet portion will feature food from El Maguey, Sansui, Vito’s, Mekong, Peking Inn, First Wok, Fatima, and Slavonic Store. This includes food from Mexico, Asia, Africa and Europe.
Entertainment following the meal will be African, Indian, Spanish, Iranian and Japanese.
There will be a raffle for two free tickets to anywhere in the continental United States, courtesy of Southwest Airlines realm. Southwest is co-sponsoring the event with the Multicultural Formation Team and the Department of Residence Life.
