SLU Hosts `Goat-Boy’ Jim Breuer

Comedian Jim Breuer will entertain the SLU community at the first Student Activities Board comedian event of the year.

Students will also have a chance to meet Breuer after his performance.

The meet-and-greet event will be held in the campus pub located in the Billiken Club on the lower level of the Busch Memorial Center.

“I’d say this is the biggest comedy event that we’ve never had,” said SAB internal vice president Laura Hobart.

Breuer will entertain the students at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 in the Saint Louis Room of the Busch Memorial Center.

The performance is free of charge for any student with a SLU i.d.

Hobart said that she expects a capacity crowd at Thursday’s event.

SAB and the Funny Bone Comedy Club have invested $13,000 in Thursday’s comedy-entertainment.

Breuer has graced the screen in both film and television. His television career started on Saturday Night Live.

Breuer spent three seasons portraying many characters, including his famous “Goat Boy.”

Breuer became the first member of the 1995 Saturday Night Live cast to star in a movie, Half Baked. In the film he portrays Brian, a deadhead music store clerk.

Breuer also has appeared on “Home Improvement,” “MTV Live,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brian and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

Breuer is currently working on his first comedy CD which is a composite of his past work on Saturday Night Live and his current tour performances.

This live CD will be available after his tour.

Breuer is also working on a new film, Titan A.E. (Planet Ice) to be released later this year.

According to SLU student Steve Abodeely, Breuer’s talents can be compared to those of actor Jim Carrey, but without the impressions.

Breuer will also be performing at the Funny Bone Comedy Club on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.
