SAB, Network Bring Hollywood A Step Closer To SLU Students

Thanks to the recent collaboration between the Student Activities Board and the Network Event Theater, Saint Louis University students will have the chance to interact with Hollywood personalities via satellite.

The Network Event Theater is a network that has been providing free movie premiers before the movies’ actual nationwide release to colleges across the United States.

In the past, NET has showcased free movie premiers of such high-caliber movies as The Green Mile, Three To Tango and Three Kings.

However, many of these premiers offered only through NET are not movies at all.

Instead, they give students an opportunity to interact with prominent directors, screenwriters, actors and politicians.

SLU will join the 20 to 30 other colleges that will have the opportunity to call up Hollywood personalities and ask questions while hooked up to the satellite feed at the same time.

The first movie brought to SLU students was Erin Brokovich, starring Julia Roberts, which took place in the Landmark Tivoli Theater at 6350 Delmar.

Ryan Murphy, directory member of SAB, said that the first interview with a famous personality will be Julia Roberts, but will not take place until sometime in April.

The next event, High Fidelity, starring John Cusack, will also be in the Tivoli on Wednesday, March 29 at 7 p.m.

Movies following High Fidelity’s release will be shown in Kelly Auditorium on campus.

The premiers are shown via satellite and then shown on equipment that NET has given SLU for the program.
