New Policy Set For SLU Basketball Tickets

Students no longer have to remember to get men’s basketball tickets before game day.

That is because Student Government Association passed the Billiken Basketball Student Ticket Policy on April 12.

The first change within the policy is when tickets can be picked up for students that do not have season tickets. The old policy for getting tickets was that they were free to students if picked up before the day of the game. On game day, students who wanted a ticket had to pay half price of a ticket.

The new policy will give students the opportunity to pick up tickets on the day of the game by 5 p.m. for free.

The free tickets are only for Men’s basketball games played at the Kiel Center.

“People usually don’t know their plans, and on the day of the game they are less likely to pay to when they could have gotten it for free,” said Arts & Sciences senator, Peter Brokish.

Brokish thought of the idea about changing the number of people in a group by talking to people.

“It would be awesome to get group tickets of more than four people,” Brokish said.

So the next change in the policy was the number of people within the group. The number is now anywhere between four and 30 people.

According to Director of Ticket Operations, Mike Jackson, this change will give opportunities for organizations, such as fraternity or sorority groups, larger than four, to sit together.

“[This policy] may get us to increase student attendance which is a big bonus,” said Jackson.

The third change in the policy is the addition of Blue Crew.

Blue Crew members will pay $35 for season tickets instead of regular season tickets of $25 to pay for free pizzas, T-shirts and face painting before each game, according to Brokish, who is also the Blue Crew President.

Blue Crew is a spirit group of undergraduate and graduate students.

According to Brokish, there are currently 70 students in but 10 more spots are yet to be filled for a maximum capacity of 80.
