Seniors Prepare Pre-Graduation Activities

Ladies and gentlemen of St. Louis, hang onto your hats. The seniors are on the loose.

Final exams end on Friday, May 12 and pre-commencement ceremonies begin on Thursday, May18th. Just what are all of these graduating seniors supposed to do with themselves in between? This gap of time between exams and graduation, known as “senior week,” is bound to be overflowing with shared memories, laughs and cheers.

The senior class has organized and is sponsoring several senior week events that begin Sunday and end on Wednesday where soon-to-be graduates and their friends can celebrate before receiving their diplomas at the end of the week.

On Sunday there is a Cardinals game at 1:10 p.m. versus the Dodgers. Tickets are $2, but there is a limited number available.

Monday is the infamous Pub-Crawl at six different bars throughout St. Louis. The event begins at Happy Hour at Humphrey’s from 4-6 p.m. and ends at Laclede Street Bar and Grill around 11:30 p.m. Participants must purchase a $5 wristband that entitles them to drink specials all night, food at one of the bars and transportation from location to location.

Tuesday night is karaoke at Laclede Street where there will be drink specials from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m

The week’s festivities come to an end on Wednesday night at Humphrey’s for Penny Pitchers where there will be no cover charge for seniors.

There will be a senior week booth at Spring Fever on Thursday, May 4 where students can purchase tickets to the baseball game and the wristband for the Pub-Crawl. The booth will also be out in the quad from Monday to Thursday next week. Tickets and wristbands must be bought in advance.

At the booth students can also purchase a “buck cup” for $2. Vito’s, Bullfeathers, the Firehouse, Humphrey’s and Laclede Street have all agreed to fill these cups for $1 any time between Sunday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 17.

Though it is the senior class that planned these events, it is not just seniors that can participate. Senior Mary Kaiser, who has been working on the organization of these events, said, “Certainly anyone is invited to come along. We hope to see as many people as possible in the big celebration for graduating seniors.”

If you would like more information about senior week and miss the booth at Spring Fever and in the quad, call Mary at 977-5786 or Colleen at 977-5913.
