Billiken Men’s Basketball season tickets are on sale until Monday, Sept. 25.

Unlike past years, in which the maximum group size was four, groups of up to 30 may have reserve seating together this year.

“We expanded to get larger groups of students sitting together, instead of just a select group of friends,” said Peter Brokish, the creator of the new ticket policy.

Brokish brought the issue before the Student Government Association senate last year, where it was well received.

“The old policy was just scaring away more people than getting them to go,” Brokish said.

In addition to the size increase, the lottery method of determining seat location has changed.

In the past, every group member received a number. When all numbers in a group were drawn, then the group would be able to choose seats.

Under the new policy, each group, whether two students or 30, will receive only one number to be placed into the lottery.

Below the student section will be the section for the Blue Crew, a spirit and support group for men’s basketball to “transfer momentum from the students to the team,” explained Brokish.

The Blue Crew will help motivate students to support the Billikens through a variety of ways aside from simply cheering.

“One thing we have planned is to have extra face paint at the games for students to paint their faces,” Brokish noted.

The Blue Crew currently has 76 members and is seeking an additional four to reach the goal of 80.

Season tickets are $25 per student and include a reserved seat. Students may also receive free tickets to the games by stopping by the West Pine Gym box office the day before the game.
