Friday marked the end of Saint Louis University’s United Way Campaign. According to Kathy Hagedorn, vice president of Human Resources and director of the program, it was a success. “SLU has reached 90 percent of its $130,000 goal. However, we are confident that we will complete our total goal by the end of the year. Although the official campaign ended on Friday, United Way still accepts contributions through December.”
Hagedorn, who has been in charge of the program since 1988, is pleased with the outcome of this year’s campaign.
“There has been an increase in Leadership Givers. Leadership Givers are those who donate a $1000 or more to United Way. In fact, for the 2000 campaign, 43% of the contributions came from these leadership donors,” Hagedorn explained.
The campaign, which targets all employees on campus, allows people to designate contributions to one of the 160 agencies that are affiliated with United Way. Therefore, contributors can control where their donations are directed.
“I want to encourage everyone to return their donation cards as soon as possible. We are looking forward to breaking our record from last year, and I am confident that we will be able to do this. Our employees are extremely generous,” adds Hagedorn.
