The SGA Academic Affairs Committee recently sent out an e-mail asking former students of the Madrid campus to complete a survey about their time overseas.

According to Becky Shelby, SGA academic vice president and head of the Academic Affairs Committee, the on-line survey is meant to get a general idea of how students feel about their experiences at the Madrid campus.

The survey asks questions about students’ overall satisfaction with the abroad experience and their opinions on the facilities and opportunities on the campus.

The survey will be available on the SGA web page until the beginning of April. Shelby said that the Academic Affairs Committee plans to review the results and share them with the Spain Program Office in DuBourg Hall.

“We hope to make them aware of what students think-both their concerns and their positive reactions,” Shelby said.

After the contact with the Spain Program Office, the committee plans to work with former Madrid students to narrow in on and address some of the major concerns and areas of interest on the Madrid campus.

Shelby said that the committee plans to organize student panels or interest meetings before the end of the semester so that students who plan to attend the Madrid campus in the future can ask questions of students who have already studied there.

Neither the Spain Program Office nor the administration from Madrid campus requested that SGA conduct the survey; it was the initiative of the Academic Affairs Committee.

“Our basic goal of the project is not to forget about the students, and that includes students on the Madrid campus, not just Frost and Health Sciences,” Shelby said.
