died Saturday of bacterial meningitis. She was a student studying
at the Madrid campus.

King was a student in the College of Arts & Sciences and was

Spain. King had been hospitalized since last Wednesday.

In an e-mail, University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J.,
informed the SLU community of the loss and confirmed that every
measure has been taken to keep others from becoming sick.

“I want everyone to know that the University has taken every
precaution to try to ensure that no other students, faculty or
staff at our Madrid campus become infected with bacterial
meningitis,” Biondi said in the e-mail.

There have been no other reports of illness, and counseling is
