Ozomatli

Sept. 6 @ The Pageant

Ozomatli (oh-zoe-mot-lee) will perform songs from their second CD, Embrace the Chaos. The multi-cultural band produces an Afro-Latin style that also contains hints of cumbia, dub and the almighty hip-hop.

Also be prepared for songs that switch from English to Spanish. The band thrives on their positive social change songs that still enabling the listening to party down.

Don’t miss a chance to see the one, the only Ozomatli on their fall tour.

St. Louis Art Fair

Sept. 7-9 in Clayton

The St. Louis Art Fair will put more than 250 artists on displaying. Their works will include painting, ceramics, woodworking, fiber arts, sculpture, photography and glass, among other media. Other attractions will be live music and demonstrations by artists.

Gypsy

Opens Sept. 7 @ Repertory Theatre

The prestigious Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will open its season Friday Sept. 7 with the musical, Gypsy. This spectacular show follows the career of burlesque queen Gypsy Rose Lee

This stunning yet riveting musical is considered by many to have the best book and score from any American musical.

This production is directed by Victoria Bussert and choreographed by Janet Watson. The musical runs through Oct. 5 and for ticket information call 968-4925.

Blast

Opens Sept. 7 @ The Fox Theatre

Those interested in professional dance should check out Blast at the Fox Theatre. The performances start on Friday September 7, and run through Sunday Sept. 16 with two shows on the weekends.

Blast is a music and dance showed sponsored by Dance St. Louis and inspired by drum corps. For ticket information call 435-1111.

Rockstar

In Theaters Sept. 7

Marky Mark goes back to his musical roots in the new film Rock Star, which opens on Friday. Wahlberg plays the lead singer of a tribute band who is given the chance to step into the same role of the rock band whose songs he has been performing. Only time will tell if this is the dream he truly desires. The film co-stars Jennifer Aniston.

St. Louis Science Center

Special exhibit

Opens Sept. 9

On Sept. 9 the St. Louis Science Center in Forest Park will present The Lost Spacecraft: Liberty Bell 7 Recovered, an exhibit which is currently visiting museums and science centers around the country. This exhibit presents a newly restored and cleaned Liberty Bell 7 and an accompanying exhibit as well.

Dave Navarro

Sept. 11 @ The Pageant

If you are looking for something a little more on the serious- tormented- rock star side, check out ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, Dave Navarro downtown at the Galaxy on Sept. 11 as well. Navarro is currently on tour promoting his solo album entitled Trust No One.

Joy Ride

Free Movie in Kelly Auditorium

Sept. 12.

Kelly Auditorium will be transformed into a movie theater for a preview of director John Dahl’s latest thriller, Joy Ride.

Paul Walker stars as Lewis Thomas, a college freshman on a trip to see his dream girl, Venna (Leelee Sobieski). Along for the ride is his older brother, Fuller (Steve Zahn). When a practical joke over a CB radio goes awry, the trio find themselves being stalked by an enraged trucker known only as “Rusty Nail.” The movie will begin at 7:30. Free tickets are available to all interested students who present their I.D.s in the Student Life Office (Busch Memorial Center Room 300).

Seating is limited though, and passes will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t miss this opportunity to see a free preview of a movie that promises to be an entertaining mix of suspenseful thrills and contemporary humor.
