To the Editor:
In response to your SGA endorsement article, your personal attacks upon my character were unprofessional. It does not reflect well upon your journalistic integrity. I would be interested to know who my critics are so I could talk to them one-on-one; however I have only you to address. While I will accept critiques of my platform and experience, your attacks on my character are highly unwarranted and childish. Your use of the adjective “inarticulate” is unnecessary and untrue. Moreover, you do not give any support for your criticisms beyond naming the ambiguous “critics.” You state that I’m unfamiliar with campus issues, while I argue that no student is unfamiliar with the problems that this University faces. As for your claim that I will not attend any SGA meetings next year, I will respond by saying: Of course I will not be in attendance; it looks like the University News needs all the help it can get. More importantly I would like to address the diminishing quality of The University News. While the articles and news reports are for the most part excellent, the editorial and basic formatting errors that regularly appear are alarming. For a paid employee of this institution to let such errors appear in a written representation of this University disgusts me. Even for the casual reader, it is impossible to overlook a double printed editorial with the erroneous title “Students Defend the Pro-Choice Platform.”
I may be wrong but I do believe that you name is the Editorial Board, not the Edirial Board. In addition, there were two illegible articles that were on the front page four weeks ago, that should have rendered the paper unsuitable for circulation. With this issue being delayed anyway, this error should have been corrected. These are only a few examples of errors that have been escalating under you leadership as Editor in Chief. Your gross incompetence and lack of ability to uphold the quality of the University News leaves me with no other option but to ask for your resignation.
