Members of Oriflamme, an organization that help smooth the transition for new students into Saint Louis University, gathered behind Griesedieck Tower on Wednesday, Aug. 20, to help freshmen students settle into their new home. The arrival of new students on campus signals the beginning of Welcome Week, celebratory events that encourages students to embrace college life. Students whose grandparents, parents or siblings attended SLU are invited to attend for a free lunch.

A Welcome Week staple. Freshmen don cowboy hats and get into the groove.

Free pizza and games into the wee hours of the morning.

Friday

Convocation
Chaifetz Arena
University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J., and others will welcome freshmen to SLU.

Freshmen say goodbye to their parents over more free food.

An outdoor concert along with more entertainment in the arts district.

Saturday

Billiken Spirit Competition
Hermann Stadium
Freshman will need to stock up on blue body paint to prove that they have the most SLU spirit before the soccer game against Memphis at 7 p.m.

BSC Bash
Busch Student Center
A performing hypnotist, karaoke, video game tournaments, free food, a photo booth and caricature artists will bring the BSC to life. Transformers will be shown on the second floor.

Sunday

St. Francis Xavier College Church
10 p.m. Student Mass has long been a hallmark of student life at SLU. This evening marks the first of the semester.
