Look for the light of Lifehouse on Saint Louis University’s coast April 24, as the band headlines this year’s spring concert.
“They’ve been around a while and have made a comeback,” said Kris Premier, president of the Student Activities Board. “[The band is] something everyone can enjoy.”
Premier said that planning for the spring concert began in the middle of October and more than 60 members have been involved in the planning process. In brainstorming, SAB considered factors such as price range and SLU appeal, while looking for someone that hasn’t performed here before.
“They’re a really good band,” said freshman Lowell Daniels. “I listened to ‘First Time’ almost non-stop when it first came out.”
Members took a poll to narrow down the choices, and then a bid was offered once a decision was made. Acts can accept or deny the bid.
A smaller band will open for Lifehouse, but that band has yet to be confirmed. This year’s concert will also take place in the Georgetown Lot instead of in Chaifetz Arena like last year’s Spring Concert.
“I think that an outdoor concert would be great as long as the weather is good,” said sophomore Arthur Daus. “The arena is nice, but it can get really stuffy and crowded quickly.”
Premier said that SAB only received funding for one event in the arena, which is why this year’s spring concert is outdoors.
SAB sponsors this year’s concert, as well as other events taking place throughout the week prior to the concert.
Events include a two-day carnival and SLU Night at the Ballpark.
All events are free of charge to students.
