The Vice President for Frost Campus search committee has announced the three candidates that will be reviewed in the coming weeks for the permanent position. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Webster University David Wilson, current interim vice president for Frost Campus Manoj Patankar and University of Minnesota Law Professor Michele Goodwin will be on campus in the next two weeks for open forums and meetings with administrators.
The committee reviewed 15 candidates for the position and has narrowed the pool down to these three candidates for Saint Louis University President Lawrence Biondi, S.J., to review and appoint a candidate based on the committee’s recommendation. The vice president for Frost Campus is responsible for nine academic colleges, enrollment management, University Libraries, faculty grievances, and appointment, rank and tenure.
The goal of the committee is to have the next vice president in place by the start of the fiscal year 2011. The search committee consists of eight faculty members from various schools and departments, one staff member and former Student Government Association President Michael Harriss.
According to the search committee website, a candidate for this position must have a solid record of administrative leadership and experience in higher education, and hold the highest academic degree appropriate to his or her discipline. The candidate must also have a strong commitment to service and diversity, as well as the ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, students, staff and outside constituencies.
David Carl Wilson, Ph.D.
Wilson has over 20 years of experience as a leader in higher education and has served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Webster University since 2002. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Manoj Patankar, Ph.D.
Patankar has served in multiple leadership roles at SLU since 2002. He is the current Interim Vice President for Frost Campus and the Dean of Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. In 1989, Patankar received his B.A. in Aeronautics from SLU and he received his Ph.D. in Computer Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University.

Michele Bratcher Goodwin, J.D., LL.M.
Goodwin is currently the Everett Fraser Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota. She has served as the Director of the Health Law Institute at DePaul University College of Law, as a Senior Faculty Member of the University of Minnesota Women’s Faculty Cabinet and as the Director of the Center For The Study of Race and Bioethics at DePaul University. Before she began teaching law, Goodwin was a Gilder-Leherman post-doctoral fellow at Yale University.
