Job Expo To Host 77 Employers For All Job-Seeking Students

Bring out your skirts and ties (not together, of course). Career Services is holding its annual Summer Job Expo 2000 on Tuesday, March 21from noon to 3 p.m. in the Busch Memorial Center’s St. Louis Room.

“This is by far the largest job expo [Saint Louis University] has ever held,” said Alisa Reichman, a career counselor. Seventy-seven employers are expected to be present, including representatives from Anheuser-Busch, A.G. Edwards, The May Company, Southwestern Bell, Ernst and Young and The Boeing Company.

Reichman said the University has even had to turn employers away due to lack of space.

The recruitment event is geared toward summer, part-time and co-op jobs, but at least 10 companies are looking for full-time employees.

Reichman encourages freshmen to attend, even though they may not currently be seeking internships. ]

“It’s always a great opportunity to meet people and think further into the future”, she said. In addition, students have the opportunity to speak with numerous employers in one day rather than making several phone calls on their own.

When students arrive, they will receive a packet of information that includes a layout of the room, list of employers and evaluation sheet. The atmosphere is more informal than that of an interview. Refreshments will be served, and tables and displays will be set up throughout the room. Students are encouraged to dress professionally and bring plenty of resumes.
