New Forum For Student Concerns

Have a question or comment about the campus?

Tell Billy about it.

The Office of Enrollment and Academic Research (OEAR) has designed a website for Saint Louis University students to express their concerns to Billy.

“Billy” is actually the staff at OEAR.

“The office will find the answer. But we can’t say it’s a particular person,” said Director of OEAR, Tim Delicath, Ph.D., “just whoever is most appropriate.”

The website consists of a question of the week and links that lead to questions, suggestions or comments. Students may then submit their responses.

Everything submitted will be edited for content and then posted on the website. All submissions will be anonymous.

The website is fairly new. “A couple people have responded,” said Cindy Wehmeyer, senior information specialist of OEAR.

“It’s been out there since school started,” Wehmeyer said.

“The website will tell us problems, concerns, issues, good things, bad things-anything [students] want,” Delicath said.

“It’s an assessment because it’s hard for us to get students’ input without bothering them. This is the place to go when [students] want to give us information,” Delicath said.

The process for answering the questions can take up to one week.

According to Wehmeyer, the process depends on the depth and details of the question.

OEAR will try to have an answer to or update of the question in 48 hours.

The website will help communication to the administrators. This is possible because OEAR will give information from students to people who deal with the particular situation or problem.

“The one thing we can promise is that any comments, suggestions, questions, anything we get, we will pass it on to the appropriate people who need to know it,” Wehmeyer said.

She added,”We can’t guarantee that anything’s going to happen. But we can guarantee that from our standpoint we will make sure that it gets in front of the appropriate people.

What those people do with it is out of anyone’s control.”
