This past weekend the Associated Collegiate Press and the College Media Advisors honored Saint Louis University’s student newspaper, The University News. The group recognized the newspaper as one of the top 10 college newspapers in the “Four-year non daily” category.
The staff received the Pacemaker Award at the ACP/CMA convention held in Washington, D.C. The University News last received this prestigious award for the 1996-97 and 1997-98 school years, as well as in 1993-94.
Pacemaker Awards are considered by many in the business to be the top prize in college journalism. The weekend also recognized and awarded four-year daily newspapers, two-year college newspapers, yearbooks, magazines and online news sites.
This was the 79th annual ACP/CMA National College Media convention. More than 2,600 student journalists and advisers attended the weekend convention, held Nov. 8-12.
