Fresh Gatherings Offers Dining Alternative

To the Editor:

I am writing as a reader, Alumus (1967) and a Vegan. I must thank James Ahearn for his views on Terra Ve and his interest in a space where one can get a healthy and comfortable dining experience. I personally feel that should be the issue (a healthy dining experience) and not that Terra Ve is a Vegetarian restaurant.

I was excited when I learned about Terra Ve and even more excited to learn and enjoy the great experience at Fresh Gatherings, on the South Campus, in the Allied Health Building. Although not a full vegetarian dinning facility it offers the best of options, fresh produce from local markets/farms and organic where possible. The food is prepared by students learning the importance of good healthy food options, including vegetarian. The educational opportunity to learn about these opportunities will give the students in the program, as well of those just eating at Fresh Gatherings a learning experience in good healthy food options. I feel that keeping Terra Ve will give diners the same educational experience.

I hope they will let Terra Ve grow to the benefit of all.

I would like to let you know that the St. Louis Vegetarian Society is sponsoring a great dining experience on Mar. 24, 2007, The Great American Meatout.

I would like to offer James Ahearn (“Good to Grow”) and Megan Kenny (“Not worth the Dough”) two tickets each to the diner as guests. I will arrange to have tickets for them at the door. And of course all the readers of The University News are welcome.
