The USA TODAY Collegiate Readership Program started back up on Monday, March 19, after students voted to keep the program on campus in February’s Student Government Association election.
Mary Ramatowski, the regional marketing manager for USA TODAY, said the program will continue until May 4.
“It will be a partial paid program for the remainder of the year. This budget allows for 300 papers of each publication, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, USA TODAY and The New York Times, to be distributed among the locations on campus for the 33 remaining days this spring,” Ramatowski said.
Vice President of Student Development Kent Porterfield, Ph.D., was approached by SGA for assistance in continuing the program to the end of the spring semester.
“Feedback from the SGA and students in general about the program has been very positive,” Porterfield said. “I was pleased to be able to assist.”
The readership program will continue in the fall semester and will cost students $5 a year.
The program is currently in place at more than 400 college campuses nationwide.
According to the program’s Web site, the Collegiate Readership Program is a multi-faceted campus initiative and partners with more than 300 local and national newspapers to bring this program to campuses nationwide.
