To the Editor:
My name is Megan Lerner and I am a graduate student at Washington University’s George Warren Brown School of Social Work. I am writing on behalf of Kids’ Place, a non-for profit organization that helps provide after school services to 40 children from kindergarten through eighth grade from the Delmar-Harvard Elementary School in University City. Every year our organization hosts an Around the World event, where we bring in people from various countries to teach the children about different cultures. On April 17, 2007 from 4:30 to 7:30 we are going to be hosting this event at the University United Methodist Church, here in University City.
We are in desperate need of volunteers for our Around the World Event. There are three ways in which people can participate. First, they can create a table displaying things from their culture or that have activities for the kids to participate in. Second, they can bring a dish, which everyone can enjoy for dinner. Finally, they can share a musical/dance talent with everyone during a performance portion.
We really do appreciate all of your help in the matter. This event is very important to the children, and my goal is to do everything possible to make it a wonderful experience for them. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me either via e-mail at [email protected].
