To the Editor:
We were profoundly shocked by the heinous nature of the shooting rampage that occurred at Virginia Tech this past Monday. Upon learning that the gunman was a legal U.S. resident with Korean background, many of us were overcome by a sentiment of embarrassment and disbelief. For this reason, we would like to express sincere sorrow to the families and others who lost loved ones as well as those who were injured and frightened by this terrible act. We also would like to express our respects to the law enforcement officials, the university administrators, government officials, students, friends and relatives of the victims at Virginia Tech, who were compassionate and humanitarian during the horrible ordeal. We hope that those affected will be able to heal emotionally in the future.
