To the Editor:

We the members of United Students Against Sweatshops would like to publicly commend all those who assisted us with our campaign to affiliate SLU with the Workers’ Rights Consortium. We would like to first recognize Fr. Biondi, S.J. and the members of the PCC who took the time to listen to our proposal and took the next step to help ensure that SLU apparel remains sweatshop free. We would also like to thank Evan Krauss who supported our work and took our proposal to the PCC. We would, in addition, like to thank the members of the SGA who approved the bill recommending affiliation with the PCC and Sen. Max Buehler who brought the bill before the Senate. We would also like to thank all of those who attended the several meetings held throughout the year, including Lisa Reiter, Phil Lyons, Joe Piehl, Kent Porterfield, Fr. Reale, and Kathleen Brady, who were vital to assisting us with our research. Additionally we would like to thank the bookstore, especially Debbie and Lisa, for their eagerness to assist us.

Finally, we would like to thank the thousand plus students who signed our petition, those who attended our events, posed for our photo shoot, took our handouts, read our posters, or just asked questions about our campaign. This has truly been a student initiative and its success has come from the support and dynamism of SLU students.

So again, thank you to everyone who supported our work for we could not have come this far without each and every one of you.
