The most accurate and important thing stated in the article “School of Public Health: For Sale?” (The University News, Oct. 12) is that discussion between Saint Louis University and Washington University regarding the School of Public Health is “preliminary.” There is no “impending deal,” and there is no factual basis whatsoever for the assertion that “more details are expected in December, when a letter of intent would be signed and the universities will begin to discuss the financial aspects of the sale.” Moreover, the assertion that “degrees, such as the master’s in health administration, may be downgraded to a certificate or concentration, due to Wash. U’s lack of such a program” is baseless speculation. Should the School of Public Health move to WUSTL-a big IF-matriculating students would be able to complete their SLU degree programs, and every effort would be made to continue to accommodate the needs of future SLU students interested in studying public health.
