DPS, no joking matter

Now first and foremost here I want to say that I don’t mean that in a sexist way. I am not distinguishing between men and women, I am distinguishing between children and adults. It’s about time Kevin quit being a child and started acting like a Man.

He thinks that DPS is a joke; well I think he’s the joke, and not a very funny one. First, he makes a big issue of how people could have been hurt because DPS was irresponsible in coming to write him up. I am shocked that he can’t realize that DPS would not have had to come if he had not broken the rules. He was the irresponsible one, and if someone had been hurt because DPS had to take time out to deal with him, then HE would be the one at fault-not DPS. DPS had to come; it’s their job. They were there to keep his R.A. safe. I used to be an R.A.; I assure you that you never know how many people are behind a door until you open it, and you never know how someone might react. If you think it might be dangerous, then you get DPS to come with you-or, at least, I would.

It was 3 a.m. on the last day of midterms! He says what he did was harmless, but it is harmful when students can’t get the sleep they need before a test, or when they can’t finish an important paper because someone next door is inconsiderate. That’s his problem; he thinks college is his own private party. It isn’t. Some people had to do some serious work to get here, and they take being here very seriously.

I’m not against fun, and I know that everyone makes mistakes. I’ve been written up myself. The difference is that I took it like a man. I got caught, thought about it later, and realized my mistake. That’s what being an adult is all about-taking responsibility for your own actions and learning from them instead of blaming someone else for the way things are. I didn’t write this to upset anyone. I’m doing my best to help. This little-boy mindset is liable to mess some people up in a few years. Next time you’re thinking of blaming someone else, don’t. Take it like a man!
