To the Editor:
The University is up in arms about Archbishop Burke reprimanding Men’s Basketball Coach Rick Majerus for his public support of abortion. Majerus tells us he has a right to his opinions. Again, as so often before, the core of the issue is missed.
Coach Majerus has a right to an opinion, even if it contradicts the Church’s opinion. However, neither he nor I nor Fr Biondi or even our Holy Father have a right to lead others astray. This is the issue Majerus is missing, and so many with him in this time where discipline in speech is almost non-existent. Coach Majerus may think it is OK to kill unborn babies, but he does not have a right to lead other people into sin. He should watch his tongue and speak about what he knows-sports. Thank you.
