President

Editorial Board February 19, 2009
Throughout this election cycle, Michael Harriss has impressed us with the clarity of his vision and strength of his platform. He has set clear goals that don't simply sound good, but are realistic as well, such as securing a 24-hour library and pairing new international students with "buddies" who will help them navigate their way through SLU.

Executive V.P.

Editorial Board February 19, 2009
Amanda Mason knows a thing or two about students. As president of Oriflamme, a leader for SLU101, a peer instructor for U101 and an employee for the Department of Student Life, she is already a familiar face to a number of SLU students and student groups, who will be her primary constituents as executive vice president.

Financial V.P.

Editorial Board February 19, 2009
This decision was the most difficult for the Editorial Board. The financial vice president's job is one that requires a balance between crunching numbers and working with committees and CSOs to sort through the funding allocation process. Robert Moehle's everyman persona will go a long way toward softening the finance committee's grizzled public image.

Academic V.P.

Editorial Board February 19, 2009
As one of the most competent members of The Next Step's ticket, we couldn't help but be impressed by Thomas Chlebeck's earnest determination to set all of his objectives into motion. He exhibits the steady composure that is crucial for the position of academic vice president, as he must be able to effectively communicate the student body's wishes to SLU bigwigs.

Administrative V.P.

Editorial Board February 19, 2009
Running for administrative vice president is always a somewhat daunting task, as the position lacks clearly defined boundaries in its job description. This silver lining to this, however, is that the position is open to the interpretation and creativity of the candidates, and the Editorial Board found that Andrew Miller very strongly took to this opportunity with his platform points.

Executive Vice President

Editorial Board February 22, 2008
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT: Vote Alex Joyce Howard made a wise decision in choosing Alex Joyce to take over her current SGA position. Joyce's level-headedness and practical manner serve as a balance to Howard's myriad of ideas. His friendly approach and interest in what people have to say will garner him respect.

Financial Vice President

Editorial Board February 22, 2008
FINANCIAL VICE PRESIDENT: Vote Jonathan Perdue Jonathan Perdue is believably sincere, and his genuine care for students has led him to campaign on what could be the most important feat for SGA: transparency. Perdue said that the student body as a whole should have access to the budget and, with Perdue, we finally believe that SGA will do its real job.

Academic Vice President

Editorial Board February 22, 2008
Academic Vice President: Vote Samantha Morr Howard called Samantha Morr a balance to her own personality, but, in reality, Morr is the extreme opposite: While Howard excitedly relays her plans, Morr's subdued way of explaining her intentions may keep her audience from immediately jumping on board.

Administrative Vice President

Editorial Board February 22, 2008
ADMINISTRATIVE VICE PRESIDENT: Vote Michael Harriss The administrative vice president must be strict, but he or she must also be a team player. Though Anulouwapo "Dami" Daramola would be firm with the senators, her aggression could be off-putting to some. Michael Harriss, a first-year senator, showed his cooperative nature while taking the heat from his ticket for his sweater vest and high waters.
