The Saint Louis University men’s basketball team has received a verbal commitment from a 6 feet 6 inches small forward Jared Drew from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis.

Drew informed head coach Rick Majerus of his decision on  Aug,. 21 after an unofficial visit on campus.

Drew is the first commitment of the 2012 recruiting class for SLU. He said he intends to sign his letter of intent in November at the start of the fall signing period.

“After visiting down there on Sunday, and sitting down with Coach Majerus and Coach Harriman, I just knew it was the place for me,” Drew said.

“Coach Majerus is a legend. He knows where the program is going and is all about getting me to be the best student-athlete I can be,” he added

According to ESPN.com, he chose the Billikens over offers from Missouri State University and Creighton University, and was garnering serious interest from Boston College and Michigan.
